Fifty Shades Darker – Advanced Screening

Author: Natasha Walton

So… I have been waiting for this day for 2 years! I am going to start off this blog post with a little throwback to where my Fifty Shades of Grey love started. I was in year 11 and it was during an exam period, I remember this clearly because my friends kept telling me to study and I was busy reading this book. I read all 3 books in 3 days… dedicated, right? I was obsessed. Since finishing the books, I spent a lot of time waiting for the movies. The casting is perfect. In the beginning, I was a little hesitant about the cast because when we read books, we imagine the characters to be a certain way and sometimes the cast can be a little different to what you expect, but I think they hit the nail on the head with Dakota and Jamie.

First movie wasn’t great in my opinion. It felt rushed and unorganised. So I wasn’t sure what the quality would be of the second movie. I checked nearly every cinema in Sydney to try and get tickets for the advanced screening. Everywhere was sold out, but I didn’t give up! I finally found a cinema that released a second session. It was a gold class advanced screening. Excitement was an understatement!

The cinema was set up beautifully to create a good atmosphere. The staff were dressed in suits and masquerade masks. We were greeted with free popcorn and a drink and were seated in a lovely lounge until it was time to go in. We decided to order some food to come in just before the movie started. As the time got closer, we decided to go in. Gold Class sessions usually have a smaller amount of people in them. We were second row from the back and thoroughly enjoyed our recliner seats! It wouldn’t be me unless I spilt something… the second I sat down, I spilt my popcorn all over the seat and floor… great.

The movie begun & all I can say it that I was covered from head to toe in goosebumps. The movie was amazing. I won’t go into any detail because it is still fairly new, but I can say that if you have read the book, you won’t be disappointed. I may have even shed a tear here and there. The cinema was dead silent. Not a noise was made and it was amazing. The end of the movie was amazing! Everyone clapped, stood up and talked to each other. One woman even yelled out “I’m going home to get laid!”. Fair to say that we all had a good giggle. We decided to wait back a few seconds, and that is when they announced that Fifty Shades Freed would be released Valentine’s Day 2018! That is only a 1 year wait! I put it straight into my calendar. The countdown begins. All I can say is that I had an amazing experience with an amazing group of friends, and I can’t wait to do it all again in 2018.
