Long time no see! Apologies for that.. Anyways, let’s jump straight into this 🙂
Today I am reviewing the Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel in the colour Grey Brown which was a great colour match from my almost black hair.
Below is the information from the website:
- Maybelline Tattoo Brow 3 Day Gel Tint Medium Brown enriched with collagen & royal jelly to condition hairs, helps define and fill brows for up to 3 days.
As you can see in the photo, my eyebrows are quite dark & thick with sparse areas towards the end. The way I prepped for the application was by washing my face thoroughly and trimming the hairs.
The applicator is a brush which in my opinion is too thick to be able to precisely apply the product – so I was also using an eyeliner brush to get a sharp line and fill in the end of my brow properly.
The consistency of the tattoo brow gel would be best described like a thick syrup so it can be quite easy to not distribute the product evenly – so be careful when you apply to ensure you don’t over darken specific areas.
Here is what my brow looked like when applied. As you can see, the gel is quite shiny and thick so it covers the hairs and gets down into the skin very well.
The packaging states to leave it on for roughly 20 minutes – however I generally leave it on for about 30 to ensure it matches my natural hair as much as possible.
Once it had completely dried and was nearly 30 minutes, I removed the gel. It is best to start from the end of your brow and peel toward the beginning. You can definitely use yours fingers but I prefer using a spoolie brush to peel it off. As you can see in the image above on the left, that is what came off the brow. It does not remove any hair and it does not hurt at all. The image on the right shows how it looked once the gel was removed.
How did it wear & final thoughts:
Honestly, I love it. It is important to note that this product does not colour your hair, but the skin under your brow which is what gives the filled in effect. The packaging states it will last roughly 3 days, however with the right care, I can make mine last up to a week. The trick is to not use any products on your brows & avoid washing your brows vigorously. Avoid makeup removers, micellar water & lotions on the brows as this will affect the longevity. Also if possible, avoid using brow gels.
